The Society returned to Old Fold Manor for this years VC Day’s and an enjoyable time was had. Fuelled on by lunch and an excellent halfway house courtesy of Neil Hewit our Vice Captain, some decent scores were returned before we enjoyed the evening festivities. This event was the 3rd and final qualifier for the restructured R & A Quaich competition (now to be played for over a calendar year, Captains Day, Presidents Day and VC Day but it is only the best 2 scores to count over those 3 events) which saw Brian Macdonald first across the line with an impressive 71 points over the first two 2 rounds from Rob Kent, both Harpenden Common Members. The Roland Bird Trophy for the over 70’s was won by Brian Venters from Ely City scoring a creditable 34 points before the main event saw some regular names with the Captain in 3rd place on countback with 35 points, Simon Tansley 2nd on 37 but the eventual winner was one of the newest members of the Society in Rob Kent scoring a great 38 points to win the Summer Trophy.  Photos from the left Rob Kent receiving the Summer trophy, centre, Rob Kent with his trophy and his club colleague Brian MacDonald who won the  R&A Quaich and right Brian Venters with the Roland Bird trophy.
