Playing at the front of the Societies Autumn Meeting, at Porters Park, the Senior men’s four ball better ball, inter club county knockout, organised by the Society saw Paul Bryce and Alan Ragless from Panshanger Golf Club winning 4 & 3 from Robert Hewlett and Geoff High of Whitehills to add a new name to the long list of winning clubs. The course was in excellent condition despite winter rules being in place, playing tricky and especially long in the wind. However, the field enjoyed the day, despite the downpour 45 minutes from the end but the rain didn’t dampen the spirit of the members who returned some excellent scores. The official scorer was kept busy with the top four places being decided by 1 point. On countback in fourth place on 41 points were Keith Stafford and Paul Martins, just edged out by Simon Tansley and local man Peter Robinson, then in second place on 42 points were Colin Anderson and David Brewer but winning on countback was Doug Barson and Tim Fox, who made a rare but welcome appearance. The photo right is of Captain Richard presenting the Autumn Cup to Doug Barson, Tim Fox, his partner, had to leave before the presentation.
