The last time the Society played a match it was 2019 and nobody had heard the words coronavirus, lockdown, or social distancing so it was with great relief that we were back on the road at Romford Golf Club to play in the annual triangular tournament for the Herve Cup against Essex and Cambridgeshire. The weather was superb along with the company and many old acquaintances were renewed before, during, and after the round on a tight and testing course before we sampled a few drinks and enjoyed a meal before the presentation ceremony. As the holders of the Cup, winning in 2018 and 2019 as a team we had high hopes but sadly it was not to be. The hosts on their home turf regained the Cup and had the pleasure of seeing Herts pick up the wooden spoon. Whilst a win would have been fantastic, the day was all about getting back out into the world of golf and ensuring the traditions of the society were upheld and I am pleased to say they were
