The first internal event for the Society in over a year saw 44 members play the New Course at Essendon on VC Day, without our VC ! Sadly, Simon Tansley fell foul of the NHS App and was required to isolate for 5 days just before the event but I can assure everyone that he was there in spirit and missed by everyone. The weather did its best to disrupt the event as well with heavy rain in the preceding 24 hours and as we were about to start. Luckily for the most part it remained dry during the round in the afternoon but there were a couple of very heavy downpours but the course stood up to it very well.    click for photos

Some great scores were seen with the top three being decided on countback after they all scored 41 points. In the end Kaz Donald, Arkley prevailed winning the Summer Cup from Tim Corbett and David Biggerstaff with Doug Root from Whipsnade Park scoring 34 points winning The Roland Bird Trophy, now played for by the over 75s. It was good to socially see other members, enjoying the hospitality and food after the golf, and seeing all those Green Jackets again, so we now look forward to Presidents Day at South Herts on the 29th of July.
