We had a warm day for our long trip to Ufford Park, Woodbridge, our delayed 2020 fixture against Suffolk, On arrival, we were greeted by old friends and a familiar course for some. The weather stayed fair for the rest of the day, on a well-presented course, although some mentioned the greens were slow but fair and true. There were several close matches and everyone waited anxiously for the result after a typical golfers meal, rounded off with crumble and custard. The fixture was the last for the outgoing Suffolk Secretary, Paddy Lockwood, so maybe it was a fitting result with the hosts prevailing 5 – 3, reversing their defeat last year at Harpenden Common. We wish Paddy well in his new adventurers and eagerly await next year’s match. Photos show Captain Simon with Suffolk President Garry & John Saunders eyeing up his birdie putt.
