On a very warm and sunny day, the society played a one-off centenary match against Hadley Wood to support the occasion. A large field gathered when many old friends met up for a 24-a-side fourball better ball match. The course played well, with dry fairways ensuring there was a lot of roll and then we had some excellent approaches and greens to deal with. There had been some great changes to the course since our last visit with new bunkers and a few tweaks that made you think but as always Hadley Wood is an enjoyable course to play. So, after a carvery meal, we waited to hear the result, and as predicted it was another home win with Hadley Wood just beating the society 7 – 5. Captain Simon, seems resigned to not getting that elusive win but as our next fixture is against his home club in theory he has won before we even arrive at Essendon! A great day for Hadley Wood and another page added to its long history. Please Click Here to view photos
