On a true summers day we set off for the 2 hour journey to Suffolk and the societies first visit in many years to Felixstowe Ferry and one of the countries top links courses. So, we had to deal with an early start, a links course, Suffolk had home advantage and then of course there was a rather strong wind, not the usual prevailing one but off the sea adding to the tricky conditions. The course played well and the ball went forever, not always in the right direction though !
So, after the round we enjoyed a good meal with our friends and for your Hon Sec probably the biggest surprise of the day came when the result was announced and we had only lost 4 ½ – 3 ½ away in very tricky conditions. Congratulations to our hosts and well played to those members of the team who won or drew their matches. So, Captain Brian had lost his unbeaten run but at least he did get a lift and I am happy to admit that is was a tough day at the office but enjoyable. We look forward to next seasons match and finding a suitable tricky course for our guests.
