The Society returned to Welwyn Garden City for the second time this season following the downpour when we played against London Captains but I am delighted to report this time the weather behaved itself. It was a little warm for once this season and players actually commented they were too hot, a rare event this year. We were celebrating the Centenary of this club and played a mixed match of 16 a side. There were several faces from the past on both sides and the match was played in the usual friendly rivalry that these days produce in good humour and excellent spirit. This game was all about celebrating with Welwyn Garden City and as usual home advantage paid dividends with the hosts running out as winners 5 ½ – 2 ½. We didn’t leave with a trophy but did accept from The Chair of the Centenary Committee, Doug Barson a copy of their published book celebrating their 100 years.
