20230719_144648A fine day for a change this season saw Hadley Wood host our Presidents Day, on behalf of President Don Bailey and the final leg of the R & A Quaich qualifier in sunshine. 44 members enjoyed the demanding course, playing long with slick greens but the hospitality of Don in the halfway house did help many out with sustenance and alcohol. The field then enjoyed an excellent cold buffet before the results which showed how demanding the course had been. Only 3 players scored in excess of 36 points and one of those was a member. In the end, our Hon Treasurer, Bob Howell from Arkley led the field home with an impressive 39 points, scoring 22 on the back 9. 1 point ahead of local Past Captain John Bolton and 2 ahead of third place Dave Bowers from Aldenham on 37 points. The Quaich proved even tighter with Duncan Mutton, Whipsnade Park, and David Ross, Arkley tied on 75 points. Photo, Our President Don waiting to serve his next guest.
